Rainforest Conservation
Starts with A Creative Fundraiser
The planet is in crisis, and it needs our help. Universities, Schools, scout troops and youth groups can help bolster Rainforest Trust’s conservation impact. We work to preserve the most endangered tropical forests and threatened species that call these habitats home. As a result of our work, we’ve protected over 37 million acres of threatened habitat, but there’s much more to be done.
We know that the youth of today are the future of the planet’s environmental sustainability and we need their help. Together, we’re encouraging schools, universities, scout troops, and youth groups to lead a rainforest fundraiser in their communities.
Why Rainforests?
Tropical rainforests affect the daily lives of every person on the planet. Rainforests are one of the most important natural resources left on Earth. They are places of scientific discovery, and safely store billions of tons of carbon, helping ward off climate change. Rainforests are home to millions of unique animals and plants. And millions of people depend on rainforests for their livelihoods.
What Can You Do?
You have the power to make a lasting difference and protect the rainforest. By supporting Rainforest Trust, your donation goes directly to our projects around the world — saving land, protecting species, empowering communities and securing a future for the entire planet. And any student or class can get involved through the Rainforest Ambassador Program!
Need Fundraising Ideas?
We’ve Got Them.
School Fundraising.
We’ll set up a website page specifically for your school fundraising event, so your school community can easily and safely save acres of rainforest. See an example here.
Fundraising Shoe Drive.
Students collect new as well as gently worn shoes at school or from other local businesses. It is super easy to do, every student and their family can participate, and we provide the marketing materials to help promote your efforts. We also provide pick up once all shoes are collected. Rainforest Trust receives a donation payment for the shoes and they are then repurposed to create economic opportunity, stability and hope for individuals, families, and communities in developing nations. A great lesson in recycling and re-purposing!
Organize a fun run.
Hold the event at your school’s track and have participants get pledges and donations for running laps or pay to participate in the run. Donors could pledge a flat amount or give you an amount per lap.
Jungle Market.
Collect new and used items to have a yard sale.
Rainforest Film Festival.
Hold a movie night and use the ticket money to help protect the rainforest.
Birthday, Wedding, Bat or Bar Mitzvah donations.
Celebrations of all kinds can be a charity event, including your Birthday, Wedding or Bat or Bar Mitzvah. Ask guests to bring donations instead of gifts. We’ll set up a website page specifically for your event, so guests can easily and safely save acres of rainforest in your honor. See examples of Birthday and Wedding pages here.
Pennies for the Planet.
Set up collection receptacles around school and collect spare change from each of the classrooms. Compete between classes to see who can raise the most money.
